TIFTAREA TEA PARTY PATRIOTS RELEASE STRAW POLL
Tiftarea Tea Party
Patriots have been meeting every Monday night since their first rally on April
15, 2009. They see the Federal Government taking over more and more
responsibilities of State Government while reducing personal freedoms and
religious rights. We are concerned with the current course of deficient
spending, unconstitutional legislation and corruption in government.
We feel that responsible citizens work hard to be self-sufficient and
are being over-taxed to support almost 50 percent of the population.
We organized primarily to educate ourselves
in order to take a more active role in electing and engaging elected government
representatives. To discuss issues of the day and seek solutions to current
governmental issues such as constitutional rights, health care, immigration, and
education to name a few. Contact information for current elected officials were
compiled and distributed with encouragement to keep them informed of our
feelings concerning the issues of the day.
Since our first Gubernatorial Debate last
November, we have invited all potential candidates seeking office that affects
the Tiftarea, to come and speak to us concerning their campaign. About 50
candidates were asked to come and speak. So far, 25 candidates have spoken to
the group. Only one Democrat and one Libertarian candidate responded to the
invitation to speak. All attending candidates were given ample time to present
their goals and then questioned to determine their beliefs, honesty and
abilities to perform the office being sought.
A straw poll was completed on July 12, 2010.
Only one candidate has been unanimously endorsed by the Tiftarea Patriots. Tony
McBrayer running for State House 153 is one of our own, making the final
decision to run after attending our meetings for a couple of months. We know him
well, and his desire to adhere to the Constitution, his integrity, devout
Christian principles, and extensive business experience make him an ideal
candidate to represent the people of the Tiftarea and the State of Georgia.
Votes on the poll represent a “preference”
made by the Patriots as being the best candidate. All the Patriots do not agree
100% on all issues and most candidates do not meet everyone’s criteria for the
perfect candidate. Races where a “No Vote” is shown, was because there was no
confidence in any of the candidates and preference will be determined before the
November General Election. Uncontested races are not shown.
The Patriots currently meet every Monday
night at the Holiday Inn in Tifton at 7:00 PM. We will be moving to the Hilton
Garden Inn beginning August 2, 2010. You may find more information about us
